From pumpkin spice to sweater weather to the stunning colors, I am obsessed with fall. The change from summer to fall is such a nostalgic thing for me. Fall was a big deal in my house growing up, so I learned to love it at a young age. I talk a little bit more about my childhood in an earlier blog post. I'd love for you to read it and learn a little more about me!
It's been a lot of fun for me to get to experience fall in this chapter of life I'm in right now. Being on your own shows you a lot about yourself, and it's definitely shown me how much I love fall. Especially in a professional setting, as a photographer.
I think there's a sense of urgency that fall brings. The leaves aren't colorful for too long, the sun sets sooner, and it's not as warm out. In order for you guys to get the most out of this fall, I put together a list of 3 color combos that will be perfect for fall photos.

Aren't these fall family pics stunning?
Fall Color Combo 1: Tan, Cream, and Earth Tones
These natural toned neutrals will let the fall leaves do all the work. The bright reds and yellows will be supported so effortlessly by the neutrals you (and your people) will be wearing.
Something super important to remember when you're figuring out your outfit for your fall pics is that you don't have to wear solid colors. As a photographer I see a lot of clients that think patterns are a no-go for photos, when it's really quite the opposite. Patterns add so much interest to the photos, and they're a really easy way to show your personality.
My awesome clients in the photos above are a great example of how tan, cream, and earth tones can look in fall photos. And isn't the floral pattern on her shirt the most perfect pop of color?
Fall Color Combo 2: Neutrals With a Pop of Red
I never considered including red in a fall photo color palette, but I'm so glad these 3 girls did! Don't their red accents pair perfectly with the reds and oranges in the leaves? Not to mention how perfect their outfits work together.
For this color combo I imagine darker neutrals (like brown and black) being the main colors, and red accenting them. I think the girls slayed their look with the lighter denim and white, though. Either way is a win.
Fall Color Combo 3: Rust Orange & Blues
I think it's safe to say that rust orange is the go-to classic color for fall. I love photographing rust because it looks so cohesive with the warm leaves. It's just such a classy color. And I love that it works on multiple skin tones. Rust is a great option if you feel like you look washed out because it's not so light it's competing with your skin tone, but isn't dark enough that it'll make you look more pale than you are.
To compliment the rust orange, I think blue is the way to go. Orange and blue are complimentary colors after all, so they're meant to work together. Something about a rusty orange and blue working together is just so classy to me. If you wear rust and blue it's basically a guarantee that your photos will turn out better than you think they will.
I hope these fall color combos gave you a good start on figuring out what to wear for your fall photos. As an experienced portrait photographer and lifelong lover of fall, I think my opinion on fall color palettes is pretty trustworthy.
